What are the Urban Excellence Awards?
The Urban Excellence Awards celebrates businesses, organizations, individuals, events, and projects that have made significant contributions toward creating a unique, vibrant and diverse downtown environment – and have made a lasting, positive impact on Downtown Tampa. Each year an awards jury representing a cross-section of Downtown constituencies select award winners honoring the leadership, innovation, hard work, talent, and community spirit. Brought to you by the Tampa Downtown Partnership, this program embodies the culture of Tampa's Downtown.
How will I know if I'm a top finalist in my category?
The top three finalists will be announced publicly and contacted directly.
If nominations are submitted by the public, then what does the jury vote on?
Great question! The Urban Excellence Awards is a two-part award program. All nominations are submitted by the public for each award category. After the jury deliberates the top three finalists for each category is determined. They then anonymously vote on nine of the ten categories. The tenth category, People’s Choice, is voted on by the public.
So, if I receive an e-mail that I'm a finalist, that has to mean I won my category, right?!
Fingers crossed, but not necessarily! You’ll have to wait until event night to find out the winner of each category!
I'm a finalist in one of the jury voted categories. Can I also be a People’s Choice finalist?
Yes! All nominees will be eligible for the People's Choice award.
What does the celebration entail?
We pull out all the stops at the Urban Excellence Awards! It is a night to celebrate our Downtown and those that make it so special. The evening includes a cocktail hour for pre-dinner drinks, dinner, live music, performances, and more!
Is the party only for finalists and winners?
No! Anyone with a ticket is welcome to join in on the celebration, show love and support our finalists!
